Menopause Management Service
Dr Sheryl Kaplan, Dr Melissa Holz and Dr Tammy Nisner run EdgCARE's Menopause Management Service.
During your appointment, they will help you to navigate the world of Menopause, what it means to you and how to move forward with your current symptoms and concerns. This service is for all women at any stage of their menopause journey, whether they are new to this area of their life, or have already been on medications and would like a review.
What does it involve?
A One Hour consultation includes a review of your menopause symptoms, your Past Medical History, Full Examination, Blood Pressure and Body Mass Index. It also includes a breast examination and a pelvic (internal) examination (if required).
What tests are included?
Blood Tests: Full Blood Count, Kidney Function, Liver Function, Uric Acid, Bone Profile, Cholesterol Profile and Diabetes Screen, Thyroid Function, Iron Levels, Vitamin D, B12, Folate, Luteinising Hormone (LH), Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH), Prolactin, Testosterone, Oestradiol-17-Beta, Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG) and Free Androgen Index
What tests are not included?
Cervical smear test: performed during the pelvic examination as an additional cost.
Of note, Cervical Smear Testing can not be performed within 1 week of the menstrual period commencing (or if you are still bleeding) or within 3 months of an inadequate smear test result.
Ca 125 ovarian tumour marker blood test or a bowel cancer screening test. These tests can be added on to your screen - please see below.
You will also be referred for a pelvic ultrasound, breast mammography or bone density scan if required.
How much does it cost?
The cost is £600.
This includes the full assessment, all your tests and a telephone call with your Menopause GP to discuss your results and give feedback. You will also receive a letter with your results and an action plan about any important next steps. The cost of any referral letters is also included.
Mini-Menopause Check
Should you require a shorter less detailed review, then please book for our 'Mini-Menopause Check', which costs £90 for members and £140 for non-members.
This consultation includes a review your symptoms, a simple physical examination and advice on management. Bloods tests will be an additional cost if requested. The cost of any referral letters is also included

Standard Cervical Smear (HPV)
Checks for the presence of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) high risk subtypes.

In addition to checking for HPV, we can also arrange for analysis of the cervical cells under a microscope to check for any early signs indicating a higher risk of cervical cancer.

This is a stool sample test to look for traces of blood in the stool which might indicate bowel cancer
